E coli the bacteria that is known to cause disease to human is also a laboratory for several microbiological experiments and substrate for engineering genetic material. E. Coli bacteria is used for in vitro synthesis of human insulin and many other important proteins.
Scientist have developed these bacteria and used them in solar panel, with which now ample amount of electric current can be generated even in dim light and rainy weather under dim light. The cromophore produced by these bacteria will absorb the dim light and transform it in to current. This would help us to save fuel which would be used to generate electricity from conventional resources like thermal generator and so on.
