Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) will be notified and implemented before the upcoming Lok Sabha : Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister

Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, has stated that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) will be notified and implemented before the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Shah emphasized that the CAA is an act to provide citizenship and not to take away anyone's citizenship, and that it aims to confer Indian citizenship to persecuted non-Muslim migrants.

The CAA was passed by the Parliament in December 2019. It has been a controversial law, with some people supporting it and others opposing it. Those who support the law argue that it is necessary to provide citizenship to persecuted minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. Those who oppose the law argue that it is discriminatory and unconstitutional.

The implementation of the CAA has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Shah has now said that it will be implemented before the Lok Sabha polls, which are due to be held in 2024.

It is important to note that there are different perspectives on the CAA and the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Some people believe that the implementation of the CAA will help the BJP in the elections, while others believe that it will hurt the party. It is too early to say what the impact of the CAA will be on the elections.

It is also important to note that there are legal challenges to the CAA. The Supreme Court is currently hearing a challenge to the law, and it is possible that the Court could strike down the law.
